The other award of the contest, “for the best educational article” has been received by the report Education is the key to wealth, published in the magazine Dinero, by the Peruvian journalist of Spanish nationality Luis González Manrique

After the jury meeting held yesterday, the journalist of the newspaper El Mundo , Miguel Gómez , has won the V Edition of the Esteban S. Barcia Award for Educational Journalism “to the set of articles published” convened by the General Foundation of the Complutense University of Madrid ( UCM ) in memory of who was a model of journalists on educational issues. The jury has voted by majority the candidacy of Miguel Gómez evaluating the rigor and quality of his long professional career dedicated to educational issues, of more than 17 years.

The other award of the contest, “for the best educational article” has been received by the analysis report “Education is the key to wealth”, published in the magazine Dinero, by the Peruvian journalist of Spanish nationality Luis González Manrique .

These awards, endowed with 6,000 euros each, have been eligible for all journalists who have made reports, interviews or articles published in the Spanish press throughout 2004 and 2005, on the subject of education, contributing to the dissemination of their values. The jury stated that applications of notable quality and interest have been received.

The jury, chaired by the rector of the UCM , Carlos Berzosa and the Secretary General of Education, Alejandro Tiana , is made up of Fernando Savater , Justino Sinova , Alfredo Semprún , Susana Pérez de Pablo s, Milagros Asenjo , Santiago Castelo , Fernando Bécker , Antonio Sáenz de Miera and Javier Davara .

The award ceremony, sponsored by Iberdrola, will take place at a public event to be held on June 14 at the Botanical Garden of the Complutense University.
